Helping Those in Need

Here's my very opinionated opinion about helping those in need:

They need help. If you want to help, help. If you feel called to help, help. If you don't feel like helping, but are called to help, help. If you don't want to help, don't. If you don't feel called to help, don't.

Absolutely, positively, don't pick on those people in need. Be nice.

What if you ever need some help in the future? Say, like, in two years your family looses all income, are forced to get a low paying job and are barely making the bills each month. Wouldn't it still be nice to buy a few presents for your kids' birthdays? Or Christmas? Or have enough ingredients to make a birthday cake? Or go out to eat every now and then? Just because you may be struggling financially, doesn't mean that all life other than survival must cease. It may, but not necessarily.

What if someone has three children and doesn't have affordable childcare so that person can go get a job to contribute to the household?

What if someone has disabled children and can't leave them with anyone else?

What if someone is disabled themselves and can't hold a good paying job?

There are so many what-if situations!

What if you just help?

Helping can come in so many forms:
1. Buying new gifts for children
2. Buying new clothes
3. Providing household items (toilet paper and soap, even?)
4. Providing childcare
5. Shoveling a driveway or mowing a lawn
6. Bringing someone dinner
7. Surprising someone with a cup of coffee
8. Bringing someone to church
9. Making a birthday cake for some one's birthday
10. Making someone in need feel special

OK, so how about the controversy - people on the street make more money than I do. So what? Do you still want to help them out with a few bucks? Then do so. Can't help this time? OK. But why knock people when they're down? Does that really make you feel better? Leave the underdogs alone!

Hey, here's a good idea!

Wanna start a blog?

We can work pretty well together - especially when it's online! It must have something to do with the way we met, huh?

You first - go ahead and post!
